About This Guide

A glass-walled underwater base with panoramic ocean views. Built on the ocean floor with a sand foundation, glass dome walls, interior furnishings, and an airlock entrance. A stunning survival base that keeps you hidden from surface threats. This advanced house build works in Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, version 1.20+ and above. Budget around 35-45 minutes for construction — have all materials in your inventory before you begin.

Difficulty: Advanced

This is an Advanced build. It demands solid familiarity with at least one of Minecraft’s complex systems — redstone timing, mob AI behavior, or intricate 3D spatial layout. Gather every material before placing the first block, and expect to debug. The payoff in automation, efficiency, or aesthetics is well worth the effort.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ocean Floor

Find a flat area on the ocean floor. Clear a 7x7 area and lay sand blocks as your foundation. Place planks on the inner 5x5 for a warm interior floor. Drink water breathing potions as needed.

💡 Tip: Water breathing potions (8 minutes) or a Conduit are essential. Do NOT attempt this without them.

Step 2: Build Glass Walls

Build glass block walls 3 blocks high on all four sides of the 7x7 area. Leave a 1-block gap on one side for the entrance door. The glass keeps water out while giving you a full ocean view.

💡 Tip: Glass blocks are waterproof. Place them underwater and the interior stays dry once fully sealed.

Step 3: Seal with Glass Roof and Airlock

Cap the entire structure with a glass roof. Place a door in the entrance gap — doors create an airlock that keeps water out when you enter. Use sponges inside to remove any water that leaked in during construction.

💡 Tip: Sponges are the fastest way to drain water. Find them in ocean monuments or buy from a wandering trader.

Step 4: Furnish the Interior

Now that the inside is dry, add your survival essentials: chest for storage, crafting table, furnace, and a bed against the back wall. Place torches on the glass walls for lighting (they stick to glass).

💡 Tip: You can sleep in an underwater base. The bed works normally as long as there are no mobs nearby.

Step 5: Add Surrounding Water Effect

The ocean naturally fills around your base. From inside, you get stunning 360-degree views of the ocean floor, fish, coral, and sea life. At night, the torches inside create a beautiful glow visible from the surface.

💡 Tip: Build near a coral reef for the best views. Tropical fish and dolphins swimming past your windows is spectacular.

Step 6: Final Touches

Add sea lanterns or glowstone for underwater lighting outside. Plant kelp and sea grass around the base. Build a bubble column elevator (magma blocks or soul sand) for easy surface access. Your underwater paradise is complete!

💡 Tip: Soul sand in a water column creates upward bubbles — instant elevator to the surface without swimming.
