Our Mission
BlockByBlock exists because YouTube tutorials aren't built for building. You find a 12-minute video, pause at 2:14, place three blocks, miss the next step, rewind, squint at a bad camera angle, and repeat for an hour. There's a better way.
We publish clear, visual, step-by-step Minecraft building guides that you can follow at your own pace — on a second screen while you play, or printed out next to you. Full materials lists upfront, block-by-block diagrams, and progress tracking built in.
Our goal is simple: make every Minecraft build accessible to every skill level, without ever touching a video scrubber.
What We Build
Every guide on BlockByBlock is designed from scratch to be as clear as possible. No filler. No camera panning around the outside for 3 minutes. Just the steps you need, in order, with exactly what to place.
Automated Farms
Iron, gold, XP, crop, and mob farms with full redstone wiring instructions.
Houses & Bases
Starter homes to medieval castles — every style, every difficulty level.
Redstone Builds
Doors, traps, sorters, flying machines — explained simply for all skill levels.
Mob Grinders
Spawner designs, enderman farms, guardian temples — optimized for efficiency.
How Guides Are Created
Each guide goes through a structured creation process designed to maximize clarity:
1. Build first. Every guide is built in-game before being written. We test each step to make sure it works in both Java and Bedrock editions where applicable.
2. Materials list upfront. We compile the full materials list before you start — no hunting for iron mid-build because a video forgot to mention it.
3. Step-by-step breakdown. Complex builds are broken into small, achievable steps. Each step has a clear action: place this block here, connect this wire there.
4. Visual diagrams. Animated pixel-art block diagrams show exactly what's being placed at each step — no ambiguous camera angles.
5. Verified and labeled. Each guide is tagged with the correct Minecraft version, edition compatibility (Java / Bedrock / Both), difficulty rating, and estimated build time.
Who We Are
BlockByBlock is an independent Minecraft guide site run by a small team of long-time players. We got tired of rewinding the same YouTube tutorial for the seventh time — squinting at a 1080p video to figure out which block goes where, only to miss the next step and have to start over.
We're building the guide library we always wished existed: one clear, searchable, filterable reference you can open on a second screen and actually follow without pausing a video every 10 seconds. Every guide on this site is built and tested in-game before a single word gets written.
The Team
The BlockByBlock Team
Builders, writers, and obsessive documenters
We've collectively spent more hours in Minecraft than we're willing to admit publicly. The team includes players who have been building since Alpha, redstone engineers who think in circuits, and one person who exclusively plays in Peaceful mode and builds cathedrals. We don't represent any particular playstyle — we just care about clear instructions.
Our process: someone builds the thing in survival, we document every step with screenshots and block counts, a second team member tries to follow the guide cold and flags anything that's unclear, and only then does it go live. If you can't follow it without stopping, it's not done.
Why We Built This
YouTube tutorials exist because screen recording is easy. But screen recording is the worst format for following building instructions in real time. You're switching between two windows, pausing every 15 seconds, rewinding because the camera panned at exactly the wrong moment, and trying to count blocks from a diagonal angle at 1.5x speed. It's miserable.
Written guides with step numbers and diagrams — the IKEA manual approach — are objectively better for building in a game. You can glance at step 4, place the blocks, glance at step 5. No scrubbing. No pausing. No re-watching a 12-minute video because you missed one block in step 7.
Nobody had built this library properly for Minecraft. So we did.
We're adding new guides regularly — farms, houses, redstone builds, mob grinders. If there's a build you want to see, the contact page goes directly to us.
